Gor Mahia return to training ahead of continental assignments

Kenyan premier league champions Gor Mahia resumed training ahead of their Caf Champions league fixtures set for November.

According to the Resumption of  Sports Protocol released by the sports ministry last week football like many if not all contact sports will wait longer before returning. Only contact sports were given the green light of returning.

But teams seeking to represent   Kenya in international championship ware allowed to seek special clearance from the government.

‘Kogallo’  appears to have chosen that path.  Gor Mahia was crowned the 2019/20 Kenyan Premier League season, albeit with an asterisk against it, after Football Kenya Federation canceled the remainder of the season following the global outbreak of coronavirus.

Several Players took part in the group training Tuesday with club’s Secretary General Samuel Ocholla saying the training was conducted in strict adherence to Covid-19 guidelines.

“Our boys are training, mostly non-contact training and we have ensured that we adhere by the rules,.We are following them fully ‘’, Ochola Said.

Gor Mahia is set to represent Kenya in the CAF Champions League matches with the draw set to be conducted by CAF in earnest.

Meanwhile, the 16 time Kenyan premier league champions have announced the signing of  Burundian international Jules Ulimwengu.

Ulimwengu joins Gor Mahia on a two-year contract from Rwanda’s Rayon Sports.

 

Ulimwengu,  a forward, has previously played for a number of clubs in Africa including Vital’O FC, LLB Sports 4 Africa FC, Sunrise FC, and recently turned out Rayon Sports FC of Rwanda.

He becomes the 13th signing and 4th foreign player to join Gor Mahia ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
