Kenyan soccer heavy weights Gor Mahia FC are at the top of Confederation of African Football (CAF) confederation cup Group ‘D’ table with three points; on level with Na Hussein Dey of Algeria but with a one goal advantage.
Nicholas Kipkirui and Dennis Oliech scored two second half goals to earn the Kenyan champions Gor a 4-2 win over Egyptian outfit Zamalek at Kasarani stadium on Sunday.
The two sides had played out to a two all draw at half time when Jacques Tuyisenge registered a brace for ‘Kogalo’ and Ibrahim Hassan netted twice for Zamalek.
However, Kipkirui and Oliech’s goals handed ‘Kogalo’ maximum points.
Meanwhile, Algeria side Na Hussein claimed a 2-1 win over Petro De Luanda of Angola in the other group match ‘D’ game.
Gor Mahia under the tutelage of Hassan Oktay will next be in action this Wednesday to face Vihiga United in a Kenyan Premier League match then face their arch rivals AFC Leopards this Saturday in the ‘Mashemeji derby’ before locking horns with Algerian side Petro De Luanda on 13th this month in Angola in their second round group ‘D’ match of the CAF Confederation cup.
