Governor Lonyangapuo asks police to restore his security detail

West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo is demanding the immediate restoration of his security details blaming security officers working in the County for his recent woes.

This comes after the Kitale High Court on Monday issued a temporary injunction against his arrest for obstructing traffic police officers while executing their duties along the Kapenguria-Lodwar highway last week.

The governor found himself in trouble after storming a road block mounted at Safari Hotel on the Kapenguria-Lodwar highway last Wednesday evening and freed a boda boda rider who had been arrested for flouting traffic laws.

Lonyangapuo who resurfaced on Monday after being away from the public glare for 3 days now accuses security officers working at Marich and Sigor police stations of insulting him.

He called on the transfer of all police officers who have overstayed in the area for more than ten years accusing them for mistreating locals and corruption.

He said he has no apologies for his actions last week saying he has a right to protect residents from police brutality and harassment.

The County boss said leaders should be protected and as well respected.

The governor emphasized that he did not violate any law claiming that he was protecting rights of innocent Kenyans who were being harassed by police officers.
