Governor Obado denies involvement in student’s murder

Police are holding Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s personal assistant as investigations to the murder of a 26-year-old university student continue.

Michael Oyamo is said to have been part of a group that was last seen with Sharon Atieno before her body was discovered in Kodera forest.

Obado who is out of the country has however distanced himself from the incident saying his PA Michael Oyamo met Sharon in his individual capacity and not as his personal assistant.

The family is yet to come into terms with the death of their 26 year old daughter who was pursuing a degree course in medical records and information science at Rongo University.

Sharon’s body was discovered Tuesday evening in Kodera forest a day after she had gone missing.

Reports indicate that Sharon was 7 months pregnant and the alleged father of the child, a senior politician in Migori County had refused to take responsibility.

Sharon is said to have met Oyamo in Rongo in the company of a journalist before heading to Homabay.

According to reports, Oyamo alighted from the vehicle they were travelling in and was replaced by two strangers.

Sharon and the journalist had their personal items confiscated and their phones switched off.

Sensing danger after one the strangers tried to strangle him, the journalist jumped out of the speeding vehicle leaving Sharon in the hands of the strangers.

That was the last time Sharon was seen alive before her body was found in Kodera forest on Tuesday.
