Governor Waititu’s wife charged in court for illegal construction

Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu’s wife, Susan Wangare has been charged alongside 14 other people with illegal construction of buildings within Nairobi.

Wangare who pleaded not guilty to the charges was released on a 80,000 shillings cash bail pending the hearing of the case.

City Court Principal Magistrate Mary Njagi, ordered them to pay a cash bail of 80,000 shillings pending the hearing of the case.

Wangare alongside the owners of Jamii Bora building on Koinange Street and Delta hotel in the Nairobi’s Central Business District will have their case mentioned on 6th of September 2018.

Meanwhile the trial of former Youth Principal Secretary Lilian Omolo, former NYS Director General Richard Ndubai alongside 43 others in relation to the loss of 469 million shillings at the NYS will kick off from 7th to 31st January 2019.

Principal Magistrate Peter Ooko fixed the case for hearing after the dates were agreed upon during inter-parties hearing.

Finally Chief Justice David Maraga has constituted a five judge bench to hear a petition seeking to handover the management of port operations from the national government to Mombasa county government.  In a statement Maraga appointed Justices, Lydia Achode, Prof Joel Ngugi, Pauline Nyamweya, Erick Ogola and Antony Mrima to hear the matter.

In the case the petitioners William Ramogi,Asha Omar and Gerald Kiti argue that the case raise substantial questions of law and is important for the regulation, management and operations at the port of Mombasa.
