The government has commissioned a geothermal plant in Tiaty constituency in Baringo County.
The project which is located on Mount Paka is expected to produce 300 megawatts of electricity once it starts operating to capacity.
While commissioning the first exploration in nine years of the company’s existence in Baringo under Baringo- Silali project, the company’s Managing Director Eng. Johnson Ole Nchoe said the exploration is a milestone not only to the company but also to the local community who will benefit from reduced electricity bills.
Geothermal Development Company Managing Director said the company is targeting to drill 15 more wells in the steam rich County to help lower the cost of energy.
