Govt offers full scholarship to 62 needy students in Mandera North

The National Government has offered full scholarship to 62 needy students worth Ksh 3 million from vulnerable families in Mandera County through Constituency Development Funds kitty (CDF).

Mandera North Constituency has been sponsoring promising, yet financially disadvantage students from the area since 2019.

Speaking at the event that took place in Rhamu Mandera North, Mandera North member of Parliament major Bashir Abdullahi promised that no bright students will stay at home due to lack of school fees .

The area mp said more constituency development fund will be added in the coming financial years so as more deserving students will benefit from it.

Bashir confirmed that this year government through CDF kitty has so far used more than 100m to sponsor the 62 students.

In the year 2019 CDF allocated Ksh 28 million, Ksh 32 million in 2020 and Ksh 34 million this year to sponsor these students.

He wished them well and asked them to work hard in their studies.

Area MCA Abdi Kulla also urged parents and ministry of education to ensure every child gets his or her education rights.

Kulla also appealed with the Teachers Service commission (TSC) to revise teachers shortage in the area being the hardest hit since the mass exodus of non local teachers.

Every beneficiary who spoke thanked area member of Parliament as well as promising to use well the golden opportunity.
