Appoint a woman for remaining Cabinet Slot, President urged

Kenya Women Parliamentarians Organisation (KEWOPA) has called on the President to nominate a woman in the remaining cabinet slot so as to achieve two third gender rule as stipulated in the constitution.

The organisation chairlady Purity Wangui said that the women supported the President’s nominees but the remaining slot to ensure that the cabinet is constitutionally constituted.

Wangui who is the Kirinyaga women rep said that, the women leaders are in support of all women nominees exuding confidence that they have the much need capacity to lead various ministries and achieve Jubilee government big four.

Speaking in Kiandumu village in Gichugu constituency Kirinyaga county Wangui however called on the President to give women more opportunities in various government institutions and departments so as to bridge the gap between men and women who are serving in the government.

Wangui said that the Jubilee parliamentarians will approve all the cabinet nominees once the committee on appointment of through with the vetting and gives back it report once the parliament resumes its sittings next week.

She said that politics have taken the center stage of the country since last year and it is the high time the country move forward calling on Kenyans to support President Uhuru team which is she said will help him achieve his big four agenda which he intends to achieve in his last term

She however dismissed opposition stand on vetting of cabinet nominees saying that the Jubilee MPs will go on with approval without opposition participation adding that opposition must recognize there is government.
