GSU fail to shine in Africa men’s volleyball club championship

By David Karanja

National champions GSU failed to sparkle in the ongoing Africa men’s volleyball club championship after finishing 17th overall as the continental showpiece entered its penultimate stage in Cairo, Egypt.

The 11 time Kenyan champions were relegated to the classification matches after losing all their group matches.

The Paramilitary men labored before defeating Nemostars of Uganda by three straight sets, 25-23, 29-27, and 25-22 to finish in a disappointing 17th position compared to last year in Tunisia where they finished 12th overall.

Hosts El Geish will take on Esperance of Tunisia in the final while Swehly of Libya will face Smouha of Egypt in the third playoff match.
