Harambee Stars, Zambia international friendly cancelled

The International friendly match pitting national soccer team Harambee Stars and ‘Chipolopolo’ of Zambia that was set to be played in Machakos on 14th November has been called off.

Football Kenya Federation CEO Robert Muthomi says Zambia national team Chipolopolo have been unable to fly to Kenya on time for the friendly.

Zambia was selected to replace Rwanda for the international friendly after Rwanda pulled out due to a playoff match against Ethiopia.

This comes a day after Harambee Stars Head Coach Stanley Okumbi named a provisional squad of 28 local-based players to report to camp.

Foreign based players were set to be named tomorrow ahead of the crunch match in two weeks time.

The cancellation means the national team may not play a friendly match during the FIFA International break.

Stars lost to underdogs Iraq and Thailand in the latest FIFA International friendly matches. Following the defeats, Kenya dropped to position 102 in the FIFA World rankings.

Okumbi is under constant pressure to resign following a string of poor results with football enthusiasts across the country saying he is not qualified for the job.
