IEBC finalizes preparations in Kirinyaga ahead of Tuesday election

Preparations for the August 9th election in Kirinyaga County are almost complete with Kirinyaga Central Returning Officer James Maingi saying they are ready to oversee a free and fair election.

Maingi said they have received the final batch of the Presidential ballot papers and are now set for the election.

“We are now packaging and making final arrangements to ensure everything is in place, I am optimistic that tomorrow we will complete any pending issues ahead of the election,” He said.

The Kirinyaga Central tallying center at Kerugoya Boys also doubles up as the County warehouse for storage of elections materials.

Maingi said they have been distributing the election materials which include seals, banners, sisal twines among others to other tallying centers across the County.

“The distribution exercise is progressing well, we will continue with the same tomorrow morning to ensure all tallying centers have received the necessary materials for the election,” He said.

Maingi said ballot papers are delivered directly to the tallying centers which then disburse them to respective polling stations expressing confidence that the exercise will proceed without hitches on Monday.

Gichugu constituency tallying center Returning Officer Geoffrey Gitombu said they have adequate security ahead of the election adding that preparations at the constituency are on top gear and will be complete tomorrow.
