Imperial Bank customers to access money though NIC Bank

By Stanley Wabomba

Imperial Bank customers will from Tuesday next week access additional cash of their deposits of up to 1.5 million shillings through NIC Bank branches.

Central Bank of Kenya says this follows the lifting of a court order on compensation and the subsequent consent order allowing additional disbursements to Imperial Bank depositors.

Central bank says the ruling by the court has allowed the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation and NIC Bank to devise a process that would speed up disbursement of cash to Imperial Bank depositors.

CBK says Imperial Bank customers who lodged their claims through KCB or Diamond Trust Bank before the court process will be processed through the two banks.

However, any new claims should be lodged and processed through NIC Bank.
