Investors to set-up a 500 capacity conference hotel in Malindi

Plans are underway to set up an ultra-modern 500 capacity conference hotel in Malindi to rival those in Mombasa County.

The move is expected to spur tourism product portfolio diversification for the region that is often renowned for recreational facilities around the scenic white sandy beaches.

The performance of the tourism sector has been on an upward trajectory buoyed by tourist arrivals from new source markets that include Asia and West Africa.

With the new inflows, stakeholders are being encouraged to diversify their product portfolio to target the new wave of tourists.

A section of investors keen on tapping into the lucrative MICE sector in Malindi are now investing in an ultra-modern conference facility with a 500 capacity.

The project is being spearheaded by Plan group of hotels international Kenya which already operates three resorts in Malindi town.

The conference center is due for completion in January 2019.
