Nigerian artist Iyanya hosted an exclusive album listening party at the Black Samurai Lounge in Nairobi in partnership with cognac brand Hennessey.

Iyanya performed his new album Once Upon a Cat.

The “Kukere” hitmaker performed the album in front of a diverse audience, including music enthusiasts, key influencers in the music industry, close associates of the artist, loyal fans, and representatives from the media. 

The event served as a unique platform for attendees to engage in a memorable experience and meaningful interactions with the renowned artist. 

The multi-award-winning singer and songwriter Iyanya mesmerised the audience with his distinctive fusion of Afropop and R&B. 

With an impressive set list comprising thirteen songs, Iyanya showcased the evolution of his artistry, pointing out the need to uplift young artists in the industry and how he came up with the album name.

“When working on the album, there was the trending topic of Old Cats and New Cats. 

“A friend then tweeted that we would place Iyanya as “Once upon a cat,” that is how my producer and I settled on that name.” 

Beyond the music, the artist engaged intimately with his fans, sharing anecdotes about the inspiration behind each song. 

The interactive session allowed fans and attendees to connect on a fun and more profound level with the artist, creating a shared experience. 

Throughout the evening guests were served Hennessy Cognac – heightening their sensory experience and complementing the rich tapestry of Iyanya’s musical performance.
