Jared Otieno appointed acting Kenya Power CEO

Jared Omondi Otieno has been appointed the new acting Kenya Power Chief Executive Officer taking over from Ken Tarus who stays suspended pending the determination of the ongoing court case against top managers of the utility company.

Othieno’s appointment is among 12 others announced on Monday by Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter.

Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter announced a new team that will replace suspended Kenya Power top managers on an interim basis.

Also appointed in acting capacities are:

Thagichu Kiiru -General Manager Business Strategy

Imelda Bore – General Manager Corporate Affairs

Ambrose Lamaon – Finance General Manager

David Monandi- General Manager Human Resource

Titus Makau – General Manager ICT

David Mwaniki- General Manager Infrastructure and Network Management

Aggrey Machasio General Manager- Customer Service and Regional Coordination

Joyce Awinja Ochieng- General Manager Supply Chain

Joseph Gathuru – General Manager Connectivity

Peter Njenga- in charge of Street Lighting

Charles Cheruyiot and Jeremiah Kiplagat assume office on permanent capacities as General Managers Internal Audit and Director Kenya Power International respectively.

While announcing the changes Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter said the new changes will help keep operations running at the utility company.

Keter however called for more humane approach to the war against graft, chiding the manner in which the former managers were taken into custody over graft allegations.
