Jubilee MPs declare support for new anti graft measures

By Rufus Hunja

Members of Parliament affiliated to the Jubilee Alliance have declared their support for the new anti graft measures announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The MPs say they will play their role in ensuring the war against graft is won.

The MPs now want the Judiciary and the Director of Public Prosecutions to play their part without fear or favour.

The MPs are however calling on the opposition to stop politicizing the matter and allow relevant institutions such as the Judiciary to play their independent roles.

Speaking separately, nominated Senator Martha Wangari called for the immediate resignation of Devolution Principal Secretary Peter Mangiti owing to the fact that he is facing charges related to graft.

Her sentiments were also echoed by former Westlands MP Fred Gumo.

The two likened the war on corruption to the war against illicit brews and urged Kenyans to support the president on the same.

President Kenyatta had on Monday announced a raft of measures that will see different government departments and the private sector partner in a multifaceted plan that promises a crippling effect on graft and its perpetrators.
