Kajiado County govt to market Athi River GK prison products

Athi River GK prison has partnered with the Kajiado County government to market products produced at the facility.

Kajiado Governor David Nkedianye says this will help nature talent among inmates and teach them how be self-reliant.

It will also help the county in conducting business.

Products from the prison came into the limelight after the constructed the state of the art seats in the national assembly.

The prisoners are known for their skills in production of state of the art furniture.

It is against this background that Kajiado county government has agreed to partner with the correctional facility geared towards improving and providing market for finished products.

Nkedianye says the county will embark on a sustainable supply of some of the raw materials even as it also commits to markets the products from the facility both nationally and beyond.

Officer in charge Bison Madegwa lauded the partnership saying it shall enable the facility get a steady income and nurture inmates skills to engage in economic activities after the conclude their terms.

Athi River GK Prison has been on the front line among all prisons in the country on production of furniture, shoes, leather accessories, iron work, soap making and other products despite limited support from government.
