Kakamega Chief of staff Robert Sumbi succumbs to COVID-19

The late Sumbi is reported to have succumbed to Covid-19 on the 29th of October.

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has sent his condolences to the family County Chief of Staff Robert Sumbi has succumbed to COVID-19.

In a statement Oparanya said Sumbi died on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment.

He described the late Sumbi was a dedicated, diligent, humble and valuable officer who served in his office as a County Executive Committee Member (CECM) and later as the Chief of Staff.

Oparanya said Sumbi’s death is a big loss to the County Government of Kakamega as they have lost a focused staff member whose contribution to development will be greatly missed.

He expressed his sympathy for the late Sumbi’s family, calling for calm as the county government organizes a befitting send-off.

The spike in COVID-19 cases in Kakamega prompted the Governor to issue a directive that all county government workers at the headquarters undergo Covid -19 testing saying that the County has already lost 7 people and recorded 319 positive cases of Corona Virus.
