Kalonzo says political violence should not be tolerated

Wiper Democratic Movement Leader Hon Kalonzo Musyoka has condemned the violence witnessed on Wednesday in Kisumu during deputy president William Ruto Tour.

Kalonzo says political tolerance must be exercised by all leaders and that Kenyans must be allowed to express their ideas and positions in every part of their country.

“I am totally against what happened in Kisumu. Leaders are free to visit any part of the country to ask for votes in peace,” the former VP said.

The Wiper leader noted that on numerous occasions, he has allowed other political leaders including Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga to visit his backyard and sell their ideas without erecting any impediment. He challenged his colleagues to practice the same.

“Tomorrow (Friday) Raila will be in Makueni without Kalonzo. Imagine that, yet I have stood with him for 10 years. But I am asking our people in Makueni to welcome him.” he said.

“Even Ruto was in Mwingi and gave out wheelbarrows and everything went well,” Kalonzo added.

Kalonzo made the remarks Thursday while addressing wananchi in Karaba, Makima, and Kiritiri markets in Mbeere South Constituency, Embu County.

Later the Wiper leader addressed the County assembly of Embu where he outlined his agenda for the country including a promise to ensure a 24-hour economy with three working shifts, green gold, and financial autonomy of County assemblies.
