Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) has appealed for more funding to enable it meet its financial obligations.
The KBC management appearing before the senate ICT committee over its plans to restructure and revamp its operations, cited insufficient funding and at times delayed funding from treasury impeding on its operations.
The managers appealed to the legislators to push for more funding to enable it efficiently carry out its mandate as the public broadcaster.
However the support of the senators wasn’t coming easy as they sought justification.
The senators also queried why the public broadcaster was facing challenges in remitting statutory obligations deducted from the employees.
KBC management decried delays in release of funds by treasury and in some instances the funding was released in installments.
The senators urged KBC to improve on their ability to attract and retain talent and challenged the management to work on a comprehensive restructuring plan to ensure the public broadcaster operates efficiently.
