KBC Nairobi Tour: Public broadcaster’s date with City residents

The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation staged a two-day road show in the Capital, Nairobi, to showcase a range of new programmes to the city residents.

The weekend roadshow comes as part of a series of activities to be held by KBC after the Corporation secured rights to broadcast numerous sporting events through its Television and Radio stations.

This was also the second caravan after a similar one was held in Uasin Gishu County just before the general elections where the public services broadcaster unveiled athletic events to be showcased by KBC brands then, and into the coming months.

The Corporation’s Brand Executive Alex Karega urged Kenyans to keep an eye on KBC Channel 1 and look forward to more entertaining programmes, citing the broadcaster’s recent acquisition of exclusive rights to televise major sporting events including the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

During the tour, the city residents were entertained by local artists such as Rufftone and Duffle Diligent. KBC’s own Fanuel Odera, popular as ‘Junior Dread’ and George Waka of Radio Taifa led a team of presenters who went out to meet the fans.

The caravan traversed Nairobi’s Eastlands area on day one before proceeding to Southlands, Ngong, Kiserian, and Rongai on its second day.

The roadshow also provided a platform for KBC to applaud Kenyans for maintaining preach peace, even as the country marked an end to electioneering season.
