Kenya Broadcasting Corporation through its radio stations will begin airing school broadcasts commencing Monday, 23rd of March, 2020.
In an agreement signed between the Corporation and the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, the school programs will run from Monday to Friday every week.
The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation and the Ministry of Education have stepped up measures to facilitate learning during the period learners will be at home.
The move follows the indefinite closure of schools due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
KICD will broadcast school radio programmes on weekdays on KBC English Service, Iftiin FM and Radio Taifa.
Radio Taifa will air Swahili content from 10am to 11am.
English service will air the programmes from 9:15am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm every weekday.
Iftiin FM, airing on 89.9 frequency in Garissa, will broadcast the education content from 9:15am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5pm.
The lessons will also be available on Trans world radio in Wajir, Mandera and Garissa Counties.
The move is aimed at ensuring that the over 10 million learners at home are not left idle as the number of institutions adopt e-learning to make for the time learners will be at home.
