KDF raid Al-Shabaab bases, kill 31 militants

Kenya Defense Soldiers have destroyed Al-Shabaab bases in Baadhade, Somalia killing 31 militants.

In a statement, Joseph Owuoth of KDF’s Public Affairs Unit says the Sunday intelligence-led operation was executed by air and ground assets.

He explained that ground troops were supported by attack helicopters and artillery fire to access the terrorists’ base and the two command and logistics bases 17 kilometres from Siraria near Hola Wajeer.

The soldiers attacked two command and logistics bases killing the terrorists while others fled with injuries.

“Following the operation, other Al-Shabaab fighters fled with injuries. Two Al-Shabaab vehicles were destroyed,” said Col Owouth.

“The intelligence-led operation was executed by air and ground assets. Ground troops were supported by attack helicopters and artillery fire to access the bases 17 kilometres from Sarira near Hola Wajeer,” he added.

Two Al-Shabaab vehicles were destroyed during the operation that saw 11AK-47 rifles, and four improvised explosives seized..

Also recovered include, foodstuff, communication equipment, several uniforms, a roll of detonating cable and 634 rounds of assorted ammunition.
