The National Rugby Sevens team climbed up two places in the standings after the latest round of the 2017/18 HSBC Sevens World Series in Sydney.
Kenya sevens team collected 10 points after reaching the cup quarterfinals for a tally of 23 points which sees them climb from 11th to 9th.
Shujaa lost 24-5 to Fiji in the fifth place semi-final after tries from Jerry Tuwai, Amenoni Nasilasila, Alasio Naduva and Josua Vakurunabili. Jeff Oluoch scored Shujaa’s only try at the death from a well worked out move.
The hosts Australia emerged the winners of the Sidney sevens after a 29-0 Cup final win over South Africa on Sunday.
The next HSBC Sevens World Series will take place in Hamilton, New Zealand where they have been pooled with USA, Samoa and Canada in Pool D.
Elsewhere, The Kenya Rugby Union has announced the dates for the six rounds of the 2018 National Sevens Circuit.
The Circuit which is set to begin with the Prinsloo Sevens in Nakuru in July 21/22 and move to Eldoret the following weekend. It will then break for two weeks before resuming in Nairobi for the Kabeberi Sevens in August 18/19 with the Driftwood Sevens taking place a week later in Mombasa.
The Dala Sevens in Kisumu will happen in September 8th/9th. The National Circuit will windup in Nairobi’s Christie Sevens which will be held on the 15th/16th September.
