Kenya 7’s narrowly lose to Argentina 7-5

The Kenya National Rugby sevens team began their Sidney sevens campaign on a bad note after they narrowly lost to Argentina 7-5 in the 2nd pool B match.

Despite completing just a single pass compared to Kenya’s 19 passes, Argentina took the lead with less than two minutes remaining to the break, through Captain Gaston Revol.

Captain Andrew Amonde who missed  the opening legs of the 2017/18 HSBC Sevens World Series in Dubai and Cape Town  pulled a try back for Kenya but Shujaa were unable to get the winning try despite creating numerous chances.

Shujaa will take on France in the second match scheduled for tomorrow morning, with the latter beating Wales 31-12 in the first pool B match before winding up their pool match against Wales at 11.36am the same day.

In other matches, South Africa thrashed Papua New Guinea 50 – 0, while England were 22-10 victors over Spain.

New Zealand currently lead the standings on 41 points after reaching the cup final at the season opening Dubai Sevens before winning last month’s second leg in Cape Town.  Shujaa are placed 11th on the log with 13 points after reaching the cup quarterfinal in Dubai and finishing 13th overall in Cape Town.
