Kenya humbled by Mali in World Cup qualifier


Kenya lost 0-5 to Mali in their group E 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier played in Agadir, Morocco.

A hat-trick from Ibrahima Kone and an Adama Traore strike, and a late own goal by substitute goalkeeper Farouk Shikhalo handed Mali the emphatic win.

The result leaves Kenya in third position with 2 points from three games after two draws and one defeat.

Uganda who had beaten Rwanda in the other group E match lie second on 5 points,2 adrift of leaders Mali. Rwanda lies fourth with a point.

Kenya will host Mali this Sunday, October 10th at the Nyayo national Stadium,Nairobi in the reverse fixture hoping to regain their 2022 Qatar finals campaign. Uganda will host Rwanda on the same day.

At the conclusion of the group phase 10 top nations will face off in  play offs with the winners clinching World cup slots.
