Kenya martial arts team intensifies training in Mombasa

The Kenya martial arts team has intensified training in Mombasa as they seek to defend the overall title for the sixth year in a row during this year’s Mombasa Open international tournament set to be held on 8th and 9th September at the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa.

Kenya will be represented by 45 athletes of different age categories.

They will compete against other players from more than ten countries including Ethiopia, Uganda, Thailand, Japan, Switzerland, Brazil, South Africa and South Korea.

The Japanese team is expected to arrive in the country on Sunday with other countries expected from Monday.

Kenya will be captained by Jimmy Mukua and Jacqueline Kathini.

Last year, Team Kenya won a total of 75 medals; 23 gold, 22 silver and 30 bronze medals, finishing ahead of Philippines and Thailand who were second and third respectively.
