Coast based Bandari FC were the biggest winners in the 11th round of the 2018/19 Kenya Premier League season, after thrashing AFC Leopards 4-1 on Sunday, to cut Mathare United’s lead to three points.
Mathare, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat after going down 2-1 to Bottom side, Mount Kenya United.
A string of bad results culminated in a 4-1 thrashing in the hands of Bandari, which subsequently saw Marko Vasiljevic resign from his post as Head Coach.
The result leaves Ingwe at position 15 on the log, three points off the relegation zone, while Bandari are 2nd on 21 points, three behind leaders Mathare United, who lost 2-1 to Mount Kenya United on Saturday, with the latter still bottom of the log on six points after 11 matches.
Former Champions Tusker FC are 3rd despite being held to a barren draw by Posta Rangers who sit 17th on the Log on seven points, one ahead of Chemelil who forced a 1-1 draw against 11th placed Ulinzi Stars on Saturday at the Afraha Stadium.
Sofapaka’s 2-0 win away to 8th placed Kariobangi Sharks on Sunday propelled them to 4th on the log on 17 points, level with Nzoia Sugar, who were 3-2 winners over 9th placed Sony Sugar.
Kakamega Homeboyz are 10th after playing out to a 1-1 draw against 14th placed Vihiga United in the Bukhungu derby.
Meanwhile, after their 4-2 victory over Egyptian side Zamalek in the opening CAF Confederations Group D game at the Kasarani Stadium, Gor Mahia will turn their focus back to their KPL title defence when they travel to Kakamega on Wednesday to take on Vihiga United at the Bukhungu Stadium.
In the other two matches scheduled set for Wednesday, AFC Leopards host Mount Kenya United in Machakos, while Western Stima and ZOO FC clash at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu.
