Kenya reports 19 Covid cases, positivity rate at 1.5pc

Kenya Wednesday reported 19 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 1,262 tested in the last 24 hours.

Four foreigners are among those who tested positive. This brings to 337,985 the total confirmed positive cases from 3,840,859 tests conducted since March 2020.

In terms of County distribution, 10 cases are from Nairobi, Uasin Gishu 5, Kajiado 2, Kiambu and Nakuru recording 1 case each.

Total recoveries stand at 332,1800 after 20 patients recovered from the disease, all from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program.

“This pushes the total recoveries to 332,1800 of whom 278,588 are from the HomeBased Care and Isolation program, while 53,592 are from various health facilities across the country. No fatalities were recorded during the period under review, so the cumulative fatalities remain at 5,673” said Health CS Mutahi Kagwe in a statement.

25 patients are currently hospitalized while 107 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

Six patients are on supplemental oxygen, one in the Intensive Care Unit  (ICU) and five in general wards.


As of August 16th 2022, a total of 20,920,745 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, 17,631,408 are doses administered to the adult population (18 years and above).

An additional 1,887,620 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years, 329,132 are below 15 years but above 12 years while 1,072,585 are booster doses.

5,581 vaccines have been administered in the last 24 hours while those fully vaccinated during the same period stand at 2,051.
