Kenya tennis junior team optimistic ahead of Britam Open championship



Kenya tennis junior team’s head coach Peter Wachira has tipped the team that will represent Kenya in the upcoming Britam Kenya Open championship slated for this weekend at Nairobi club to emerge victorious.

According to Wachira, Kenya had ample time to prepare for the tournament but has however challenged the government to promote the sport in the country by building public tennis courts.

Separately, the English Football Association has announced that Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has withdrawn from the England squad for the matches against Spain and Switzerland due to a back problem.

Sterling had been one of 18 players to keep their place in coach Gareth Southgate’s squad for the first matches since the World Cup in Russia.

Midfielder Adam Lallana, goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and defenders Joe Gomez, James Tarkowski and Luke Shaw have all earned call-ups.
