A Kenyan priest allegedly killed by Cameroonian soldiers has been laid to rest in Kisii County.
The Catholic Priest, Father Cosmas Omboto who worked with refugees and youths in Mamfe Diocese reportedly met his death when government soldiers pursuing separatists stormed Kembog church and shot the congregants indiscriminately.
During a holly funeral mass, at Nyabururu Parish, Kitutu Chache South, Father Bishop Andrew Nkea of Mamfe diocese from Cameroon mourned Fr. Omboto as a person who cherished peace.
Bishop Nkea encouraged priests on missionary work not to be cowed but to move on irrespective of the persecutions.
Kitutu Chache MP Alpha Miruka, said those killed in the service of God should be recognized as national heroes saying he will table a motion in parliament aimed at protecting them and compensating their families in the event of death.
Fr. Omboto, 35, a fifth born in his family, worked with Mill Hill Fathers group of the Catholic Church.
