Kenyans continued their run of brilliance on Wednesday in the ongoing International tennis federation junior championship at Nairobi Club grounds.
Angela Okutoyi and Derrick Ominde advanced to the semi-finals that will be held tomorrow after registering wins in the quarters.
Kenyan teen sensation Angela Okutoyi started her campaign against French Sarah Fajaonah on a high note taking an early lead in the first set.
Okutoyi registered a 6-3 win in the first set before upsetting the French international in the second set claiming a 7-6 win.
In the boys’ category, Derrick Ominde claimed two straight sets win over Burundian Shakur Kabura.
Ominde showed his class by claiming a 6-2 win in the first set before registering a similar result in the second to advance to the semis.
Chiu Chieh of Taipei humbled Christopher Kow of Mauritius by two straight sets of 7-6 6-3.
The finals will be held this Saturday at the same venue.
This championship is used to accrue players with points that will help them improve their World rankings and be in a position to play in the Grand Slam and Wimbledon championships.
