Kiala withdraws, supports NASA for Machakos

Current Machakos County Deputy Governor and independent gubernatorial candidate Bernard Kiala has withdrawn from the race.

Mr. Kiala announced his decision on Sunday afternoon at a press conference in Machakos County, stating that instead, his team will work to ensure a NASA victory in the upcoming election.

Kiala dismissed as water under the bridge the earlier reports of bad blood with Wiper party top leadership especially after he lost in the party’s nomination exercise in April.

KialaAccompanied by his running mate Everlyn Mutua, he said wished to prevent the split of the opposition vote which would give an advantage to Maendeleo Chap Chap candidate and incumbent governor Alfred Mutua.

Observers believe the move would give a boost to NASA candidate Wavinya Ndeti’s chances of unseating Governor Alfred Mutua.
