Kilifi County women representative and Orange Democratic Movement candidate for the Malindi Parliamentary seat, Aisha Jumwa, has been summoned by the Malindi DCIO to record a statement over claims that she threatened one of her supporters.

Jumwa is alleged to have threatened Ezra Bidii who was initially among her strong supporters but later decamped to her rival, Jubilee candidate Philip Charos’ side.

DCIO Malindi Sub county Anthony Sunguti said Bidii has recorded a statement that his life is in danger.

Responding to the claims at the DCIO’s office after recording her statement Jumwa dismissed the allegations stating that Bidii has the constitutional right to support any aspirant of his choice without fear of intimidation.

This comes barely a day after over 50 strong supporters of Jumwa decamped to Charo’s side because of what they termed as arrogance and disrespect by her to supporters.

Elsewhere, a section of elders in Kajiado County are calling on communities in the region to maintain  peace during the electioneering period.

The elders operating under the umbrella of Peace Ambassadors also called on residents to shun divisive political discourse.

Youth on the other hand were cautioned to be vigilant and ward off attempts to involve them in questionable activities under the guise of campaigns.

Speaking at Loitoktok, Kajiado County Commissioner Harsama Kello assured all communities living in the region of enhanced security.
