Kiplagat ditches Africa cross country championship

Commonwealth Champion Silas Kiplagat has opted out of the Africa cross country championship which will be held in Chelf, Algeria in March.

Instead, Kiplagat has has announced his intention of defending his title at the Commonwealth games in Gold Coast, Australia in April.

It will be a do or die for 1500m commonwealth champion Silas Kiplagat who will be seeking to beat his personal best of 3mins 27.64 secs, which made him the fifth fastest athlete of all-time over the distance.

Kiplagat has vowed to defend his crown come April in Gold Coast Australia as he seeks to clinch more gold medals for the country.

However, the commonwealth champion has decided that he will not feature in this year’s Africa Cross country championship in Algeria for his focus is on short distance races.

He has however intensified his training having finished in the seventh position in the Kenya Prisons cross country championship last weekend at Uhuru Gardens Nairobi.
