Three time World 1500m champion Asbel Kiprop is expected to line up against newly crowned Olympic Champion Matt Centrowitz in the 11th round of the IAAF Diamond League meeting tonight in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Asbel finished a disappointing sixth behind Centrowitz in the just concluded Rio Olympic Games and will be eager to make amends in Switzerland.
The field also includes Ayanleh Souleiman of Djibouti who was fourth in the Rio 1,500m race final and is the world indoor 1000m record-holder.
Two time Diamond Race winner Jairus Birech, former world junior champion Barnabas Kipyego and Olympic finalist Brimin Kipruto are also expected to lead Kenya’s charges in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase.
Favorite Francine Niyonsaba of Burundi will line up alongside Canadian Melissa Bishop in the women’s 800m race.
After Lausanne the athletes will head to Paris, France for the 12th round of the Diamond League meeting this Saturday.
