Kirinyaga County government has set aside 37.5% of its annual budget for development.
CEC in charge of finance Moses Maina says the county has earmarked several flagship projects aimed at spurring development in the County.
Speaking during a public participation meeting at Baricho town Ndia constituency, the County Executive revealed that the county will set aside 400 million shillings for construction of complex medical building in Kerugoya County hospital aimed at increasing the hospital bed capacity from the current 250 to 500.
The County has also budgeted three million shilling for renovation of the Kerugoya County referral hospital to ensure its facilities are of high quality and provide first class service.
Farmers will also benefit after the county proposed 54 million shillings to buy subsidized fertilizer.
The youth will also benefit from the 30 million shillings set aside for them.
Maina said that the budget is people centered and has been welcomed by all residents of Kirinyaga County.
Elsewhere, Public health authorities in Kisii County pulled down a popular eatery in Kisii town for failure to adhere to the public health act.
The county public health officers descended on the structure with a tractor at night and brought it down taking the business owner and workers by surprise.
Kenneth Mogire, the proprietor of Kentos eatery, expressed shock over the destruction of his business that had cost him 7 million shillings.
He however admitted that the PHO had served him with a letter to renovate and paint the structure.
Kisii county Administration Police Commander, Martin Kibet denied that his officers were involved in the demolition exercise clarifying that they were only providing security to those undertaking demolition.
