KRA plans to adopt block chain technology

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) plans to adopt the use of block-chain technology to enhance tax administration.

KRA Commissioner for Strategy and Innovation Mohammed Omar says the tax agency is currently studying the technology with the help of the blockchain taskforce with the aim of integrating it in the various tax platforms in the country.

Speaking during the ongoing 2018 Tax Summit, Mohammed also said the tax collection agency is currently in talks with various public and private entities like telecom companies, the Kenya Power and the National Transport and Safety Authority to create a data pool that will be used to nab tax evaders.
