Laiser Hill retains national basketball title

Powerhouse Laiser Hill retained the national basketball title after trouncing a resilient Dagoretti 69-52 point’s as the curtains came down on term one National School Games, at Shimo La Tewa Secondary School and Shanzu Teachers College, Mombasa.

Despite a spirited fight from Dagoretti in the opening minutes Laiser Hill won the first quarter 20-14.

Dagoretti came back fighting in the second and third quarter but lost 14-08 and 15-08 respectively. Dagoretti won the fourth quarter 22-20 but the damage was already done.

In the girl’s category Buruburu were crowned the new girls national champions with a hard fought 43-41 win over defending champions Kaya Tiwi.

In boys 15’s rugby, Powerhouse Kakamega trounced newcomers Dagoretti 18-11 in the finals to reclaim the national title.

Dagoretti humbled Kangaru while Kakamega trounced Alliance in the semifinals.  In boy’s hockey, St Anthony defeated perennial nemesis Kamusinga 1-0 through penalty shootout to lift the title.

The top two teams in each category will automatically qualify for the East Africa games slated for August in Arusha, Tanzania.
