Lands ministry urged to fast track issuance of title deeds

Lands Permanent Secretary Dr. Nicholas Muraguri says ministry officials have been directed to fast-track adjudication and issuance of land titles deeds to solve issues of land confrontation over ownership.

Speaking at Katse in Mwingi North Sub county Friday, the PS said County Government of Kitui in partnership with his ministry will undertake land adjudication and titling in a plan set to have 100,000 title deeds issued to residents in the next six months.

The partnership between the national and the county government will see the residents receive title deeds without any charges.

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu urged residents to resolve any land disputes to ensure they do not miss out on the investment.

She said processing of title deeds was one way of setting base for property ownership in the county, and also a key exercise to fast track mining in the County.

Residents hailed the launch of the exercise that will see them receive title deeds free of charge saying it will be a milestone towards reaping benefits of land ownership.
