Lewa Marathon: Peter Wahome and Fridah Chepkite emerge winners

 

Peter Wahome and Fridah Chepkite were crowned winners of this year’s edition of Lewa Marathon held today at the Lewa Conservancy.

Peter Wahome clocked 2 hours, 24 minutes and 45 seconds to emerge the men’s 42km champion.

In a rather slower race , Wahome defeated Philip Kigen who clocked 2 hours, 24 minutes and 53 seconds to take the silver medal position while Paul Waweru was the other podium finisher in 2 hours, 31 minutes and 1 second.

Fridah Chepkite won the women’s  marathon in 3 hours, 2 minutes and 4 seconds, edging Beatrice Cherop who finished second in 3 hours, 5 minutes and 11 seconds.

Annika Berlin was third in 3 hours, 19 minutes and 56 seconds.

Eliud Mutai won the men’s half marathon that had the biggest number of entries ahead of Mike Kiptum and Evans Mayaka who were second and third respectively.

The ladies half marathon was won by Abeod Wambui who just cut the tape ahead of Lucy Karimi and Mercy Kwambai.
