Sweden’s Linda Wessberg was crowned champion of both the ProAm team prize and the overall leading Pro prize at the second ProAm round at the Vipingo Ladies Invitational golf tournament after returning an individual score of 2-under 70 at the Vipingo Ridge in Mombasa.
Linda Wessberg is the champion of the Vipingo Ladies Invitational golf tournament held over the weekend in Mombasa.
The 39-year old Wessberg, who has played professionally since 2003, opened her round with two birdies on the par-5 2nd hole and the par-5 6th hole but dropped shots on the par-3 4th and the par-4 7th for an even par total through the first nine holes.
Through the second nine, Wessberg sunk three birdes at the 11th, 15th and 17th holes and dropped a single shot on the difficult par-4 16th.
Inci Mehmet of England and Frida Gustafson of Sweden finished in joint second with an even par score of 72.
Amy Boulden of Wales finished fourth on 73 whilst Florentyna Parker of England was fifth on 74.
This ProAm event was the last of two at the Vipingo Ladies Invitationals that included 13 professionals and nearly 40 amateur golfers who go to play with the lady professionals through two days.
