A lion Wednesday morning attacked one person in Isinya leaving him with serious injuries before it was killed by Kenya Wildlife Service officers.

The man nursing serious injuries is said to have been running for his safety when the lion attacked him.

The lion is said to have been spotted in isinya by residents at 6am, though their efforts to have it contained failed.

The KWS officers are reported to have arrived at the scene five hours later after which they put it down.

The lion was shot at 9 times by the officers before it succumbed to injuries.

Hundreds of residents and motorists plying the Kiserian- Isinya road thronged the area to perhaps stare at the uncommon visitor with furious residents threatening to kill the animal following delays by KWS to arrive at the scene.

Isinya DCC David Kipkemei faulted the KWS for killing the animal despite residents being patient to have it safely evacuated.

This latest incident is among a raft of others in which lions have been on the loose after escaping from Nairobi National Park.

This comes barely a week after a lion attacked a man at Nairobi’s City Cabanas along Mombasa Road.
