Ugandan Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine has been charged with treason in a civilian court shortly after a military court freed him.
Kyagulanyi was immediately re-arrested by the police after being released by the General Court Martial.
Bobi Wine who was facing charges of illegal arms possession freedom was short-lived even the after the Ugandan government withdrew the charges it had filed at General Court Martial.
But this was short-lived as he was re- arrested by the police and was later presented before Gulu Magistrate Court where he was charged with treason.
Kyagulanyi was then remanded to Gulu Prison until August 30, when he will be returned to court with his co- accused.
At the same time the MP and his co-accused have been allowed to access medical attention in any private facility but under the security of prison authorities this follows reports that the opposition Member of Parliament was assaulted while in custody.
The Law Society of Kenya and a group of Multi- sectoral civil society organizations in Kenya have joined the campaign to rally for Bobi Wines release.
