Machakos Senator Boniface Mutinda Kabaka is dead

Machakos Senator Boniface Mutinda Kabaka has passed on.

Confirming his death on Friday, his family said he was hospitalised in a Nairobi hospital after collapsing at a restaurant in Nairobi.

Senator Kabaka was on December 4 rushed from 3 Dee Hotel in Kilimani to Nairobi Hospital where he was placed under intensive care.

He also underwent surgery as police launched an investigation into a suspected attempted murder.

The accused, Esther Nthenya Muli, who was with the lawmaker at the establishment when he collapsed, was later released from police custody on Tuesday.

No charges were preferred against Muli who is a secondary school teacher based in Wote.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua while mourning the legislator said Kabaka’s demise was due to the effects of a stroke arising from a blood clot that has been bothering him for a while.

“On behalf of myself and the people of Machakos, I pass my condolence to the family of our beloved Senator Boniface Kabaka who has gone to be with the Lord,” Mutua said.

Silas Chepkeres Jakakimba also mourned the fallen legislator as a personal friend, a jovial easy folk who was one of his first friends in the University of Nairobi class 2006.

“Pole sana, sana to his immediate family, loved ones and the people of Machakos County, May the Lord’s comfort find your hearts,” he said.

Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka on his Twitter handle also mourned the late Kabasa saying that he was an articulate debater and a principled legislator who served the people of Machakos County with utmost passion and commitment.

He also said that the late was a firm believer in democratic ideals and promotion of good governance.

“Through his contributions in the Senate, he demonstrated a firm grasp of the Constitution and in-depth knowledge of the Law,” he said.

Several other leaders mourned the late Machakos Senator
