Madrid welcomes Spurs as Man City, Napoli clash

Tottenham defender Danny Rose could make his first appearance since January for his side’s Champions League Group H game at European champions Real Madrid.

Rose has been out with a knee injury but could make the substitutes bench at the Bernabeu, while midfielder Dele Alli, who has traveled, is suspended.

Former Spurs forward Gareth Bale is out with a calf injury and will not face his old club.

Keeper Keylor Navas is set to return after recovering from a thigh injury.

Real are level with Spurs at the top of Group H with the same points and goal difference.

Loris Karius will start in goal when Liverpool travels to Maribor in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old German replaces Simon Mignolet, who kept a clean sheet in Saturday’s Premier League draw with Manchester United.

But Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has ruled out any further squad rotation for the Group E game.

Liverpool is still without striker Sadio Mane, who has a hamstring problem, but has no new injuries.

On the prospect of making several changes in Slovenia, Klopp said: “No chance. This is the last place to do those things.

“This is a decisive moment in the group – we need to be confident and brave we don’t need to think about the last game.

“We play Maribor twice now. We’ve already wasted points so we have to be very good again it’s an important moment.”

Liverpool is second in the group, having drawn with Sevilla and Spartak Moscow. Maribor is bottom with one point.

Napoli should rest players for the Champions League game against Manchester City because they face Inter Milan in Serie A on Saturday, says president Aurelio de Laurentiis.

The Naples club has not won the league since 1990 but is two points clear of nearest rivals Inter at the top.

City could have forward Sergio Aguero back in their side, three weeks after he broke a rib in a car crash.

Captain Vincent Kompany remains doubtful with a calf injury.

City is top of Group F after winning their opening two games – against Shakhtar Donetsk and Feyenoord – without conceding.

Napoli is third in the group, level on three points with Shakhtar.

In other matches, Spartak Moscow is at home to Sevilla in group E, while Monaco hosts Benefica in group G with RB Leipzig will face Porto in the same group.
