Man hacks mother to death over family property

A sombre mood has engulfed Lukume village in Malava area of Kakamega County after a 35-year-old man killed his mother after attacking her with a machete.

According to eyewitnesses, the two were involved in a heated verbal exchange over their family’s property before the man who appeared deranged violently attacked the mother killing her.

According to area Chief Malik Shanguya, the suspect who has since been arrested and taken to custody is exhibiting signs of mental illness. The police station where he is being kept was a beehive of activity as locals surged while baying for his blood.

Police officers in Busia County have launched investigations into the murder of a form three student from Busijo Secondary School in Samia Sub County. The student was attacked by unknown assailants who also raped her colleague.

Elsewhere, in Nasira village, Matayos constituency one person killed by unknown assailants. 

 The victim was on her way home from a ‘disco matanga’ in the company of her friend when tragedy struck.

Her colleague survived the ordeal and is recuperating at the Busia county referral hospital.

 Phaustine Nanjala, the nurse in charge at the facility says the girl who appears to have been hit by a blunt object before she was raped is responding well to treatment and is in a stable condition.

 Residents are now appealing to security agencies to beef up security in the area following increased cases of criminality
