Matiang’i:Stop politicization of education review process

By Vitalis Nyagol

Education CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i has warned education stakeholders against politicizing the review of the education curriculum with a view of derailing the process.

Matiang’i challenged them to instead submit their views to the committee currently reviewing the curriculum.

The current curriculum reforms come 13 years after the last review in 2003.

Dr. Matiang’i met stakeholders in Nairobi at a consultative forum to discuss reforms to be effected on the current 8-4-4 curriculum.

Where he stressed a need to create an all-inclusive education curriculum.

He however declined to give a timeline for the delivery of the new curriculum, instead expressing the necessity to have a structured process for the realization of a proper curriculum.

Four areas are being prioritized in the review. Digital Literacy, Citizenship Education, Analytical and Communication Skills.
