The Migori County Government has launched a program that will see community health workers integrated into the mainstream health system.
Speaking during the launch, Migori Health CEC Isca Oluoch said most of the outreach programs are mainly steered by the Community Health Volunteers.
Oluoch says the incorporation of the community health services, have reduced maternal mortality as most traditional birth attendants refer their clients to health facilities.
Elsewhere Governor Ferdinard Waititu has hired 40 new doctors including Theatre specialist, Radiologists and those who will assist in reading pictures from the newly installed CT scan and MRI machines.
The governor however warned the medics against involving themselves in corruption saying any manner of graft will not be tolerated.
