Mombasa County Assembly closed after three MCAs contract Covid-19

Operations at the Mombasa County Assembly have been suspended after three Members of the County Assembly tested positive for Covid-19 disease.

All members of the county assembly had undertaken Covid-19 tests on Friday in what majority chief whip Junior Wambua says was a routine exercise conducted every three months.

Wambua says operations at the assembly will remain suspended for the next 14 days with the premises set for fumigation.

Other staff at the assembly are also expected to undertake Covid-19 tests as contact tracing begins in earnest.

The County Government of Kericho had last Friday suspended its operations for 15-days after one staff contracted the virus. The administration subsequently suspended all operations except essential services that include security, finance and committee services.

According to data released by the Ministry of Health on Monday, Mombasa County accounted for the highest positive cases among Counties with 71 cases.
